Great West Welcomes Addison Coffelt

We are pleased to announce that Addison (Addie) Coffelt has joined Great West Engineering as a Planner out of the Boise, Idaho office. Addie will work collaboratively with Great West’s Business Units throughout Idaho and support the Montana-based planning team on local, state, and regional planning efforts. Addie brings close to a decade of land use and transportation planning experience throughout the State of Idaho and greater northwest. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Sciences from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. While at Rider, Addie swam for the Rider University Swimming and Diving Team.

Addie started her career doing NEPA work and obtaining environmental clearances for federally funded transportation projects. During that time, she completed a USACE wetland delineation certification and became a Water Pollution Control Manager. Since there are overlaps in environmental planning, land use, and transportation planning, Addie was able to diversify her work experience. Ultimately, Addie’s passion for land use and transportation planning was realized as she stepped away from NEPA and pursued current and long-range comprehensive planning opportunities for local and state agencies. Since that time, Addie has become a certified grant administrator through the Idaho Department of Commerce and she continues to develop meaningful and implementable planning documents for clients.

Recent News

Addie’s enjoyed building relationships throughout Idaho assisting agencies and communities with planning needs.  Several examples of her work are highlighted below.

Idaho Transportation Resiliency Strategy – Idaho Transportation Department

One of the things Addie enjoys most about planning is the ability to be innovative and bring an agencies vision to life. Addie led the development of Idaho’s first Statewide Transportation Resiliency Strategy, funded by PROTECT (Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation) funds from the State. The team conducted statewide public involvement outreach efforts to obtain state, regional and local information regarding the transportation network. A vulnerability assessment was performed to identify ‘at risk’ or ‘vulnerable’ transportation infrastructure. The vulnerability assessment led to the development maintenance strategies, emergency management protocols and implementation strategies for the State transportation system.

City of Fruitland Comprehensive Plan Update – Fruitland, Idaho

Planning is meant to be an inclusive process that incorporates the goals and priorities of not only of an organization, but the greater community. Addie managed the City of Fruitland’s update of the 2013 Comprehensive Plan that was developed through a collaborative process. There was significant public participation that allowed for a new Future Land Use Map to be developed that is reflective of desired future growth while updated future land use designations were established to provide flexibility in future development. Strategies were identified along with various partnerships to provide for successful implementation of the Plan and projects.

Addie is excited to be part of Great West’s team and is looking forward to upholding the firms unwavering reputation of excellence and will be working to grow our planning practice in the State of Idaho! To contact Addie or learn more about how Great West Engineering can help your community, email her at [email protected] or reach her by phone at (208) 759-0079.
